One of the two men who were stabbed inside a Rutgers University dorm Friday evening is still recovering in the hospital and is listed in stable condition. The second man stabbed was released from the hospital over the weekend.

The incident happened Friday evening outside Mettler Hall on the College Avenue campus in New Brunswick. Rutgers University police say that Daniel Leandry, 18, was charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and a weapons offense stemming from the attack.

Campus officials have not said what led to the attack. Leandry and one of the victims were students at Rutgers.

The stabbings come at a time when Rutgers University is already under fire about a series of other violent crimes, with some involving former members of the school's football team. Earlier this fall, six football players were kicked off the team and charged with home invasion and assault following a series of incidents.

Despite the latest incident, many students tell News 12 New Jersey that they generally still feel the campus is a safe place.

"I think we all are a little scared but I don't think we feel less safe. I think we all need to be more cautious," says freshman Chaya Levitt.

Landry is being held on $750,000 bail.
