Newark Mayor Cory Booker and the Newark Police Department have put together an 18-officer squad to capture Newark?s dirty dozen.
Police say the dirty dozen consists of the 12 most-wanted criminals facing murder, robbery and other serious charges. The Newark Police Department has teamed up with state police, the sheriff and the parole division to capture people with arrest warrants.
According to police, if they can bring in the most dangerous people, the city?s streets will be a lot safer. More than 100 people have been killed in Newark this year. However, Booker says the frequency of killings and the number of shootings have dropped sharply in the last three months.
