The South Orange-Maplewood School District Board of Education has voted to remove Superintendent Ronald Taylor.
The board voted 6-3 to remove him from his position last week.

The district has seen controversy in recent weeks after the decision to cancel in-school Halloween celebrations. Gov. Phil Murphy also criticized that decision.
Kevin Gilbert, the district’s former assistant superintendent of Access and Equity has been named acting superintendent.
