Sotheby’s has announced its first ever auction celebrating the history and cultural impact of hip-hop.

Sotheby’s to host 1st ever hip-hop auction, featuring items from Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.
Sotheby’s has announced its first ever auction celebrating the history and cultural impact of hip-hop.

The auction will take place on Sept. 15 in New York.

The hip-hop auction will feature items from the 1970s through present times.

The auction will feature over 120 lots, compromised of unique artifacts, contemporary art, photography, vintage and modern fashion and rare flyers and posters.

The majority of items on offer have been consigned directly by the artists and their estates.
A portion of Sotheby’s proceeds will benefit the Queens Public Library Foundation to support their hip-hop programs.

Some of the items on lot include unreleased Drake Air Jordan sneakers, at suit owned by Dr. Dre, a Tupac Shakur autographed letter and Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It” jackets.
