A water main break in Denville caused the road to buckle and tied up traffic for hours Sunday.
Officials say the water main along Route 10 and Franklin Road ruptured. Mud and water gushed from the break, forcing the asphalt to crumble. Department of Public Works and Department of Transportation workers blocked off two of the three lanes in one direction and started repairing the problem. They say all lanes should be open by the Monday rush hour.
Police say two multiple-car accidents occurred while they were working in the area, including a seven-car pileup. Another driver slammed into the back of a DOT truck. No one was seriously injured.
