A small plane crashed near Hackettstown Airfield Thursday evening.

The plane crashed on Airport Road in the town of Mansfield. Emergency crews were on the scene shortly after the plane went down. The fire chief says the plane had trouble taking off and landed in a pumpkin patch.

The two people on board escaped without injuries. The single-engine plane lost a tire, but there was no other damage to the aircraft.
