The Whitestone Bridge was closed in both directions for hours Friday after an overhead sign collapsed on the Queens-bound side of the bridge.
A Bridges and Tunnels official says a truck hit the sign, which caused it to collapse. Two men in the truck, including the driver, were injured in the accident. Authorities say one man had a minor head injury and the other had a fractured leg.
Traffic was diverted to the Throgs Neck and Robert F. Kennedy Triboro bridges.
