Storm Prediction Center has increased the chance for strong to possible severe thunderstorms this evening.

The slight risk now covers western Suffolk County west through Nassau County and NYC.

Timing for worst of the storms for Long Island: 7 p.m. to midnight, keep an eye to the sky after 4 p.m. stay with News 12 for updates through the day
Strong winds 40 to 60 mph possible
Small hail under 1 inch
Tornado chance is very low
Heavy Rain with localized street flooding.
What happens before 7 p.m.: Cloudy skies, areas of fog, and some spotty showers. The threat for storms and heavier rain chance happens after 5 p.m.

Today: Cloudy with spotty showers, drizzle and fog through the day. Highs near 58. South/Southwest wind 15 to 30 mph.

Tonight: Cloudy with showers and a few thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Areas of fog. Low around 43. Southwest wind 10 to 20 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday: A 30% chance of showers before 7 a.m. Morning clouds give way to mostly sunny skies and it will be breezy. High near 55. Northwest wind 15 to 30 mph.

Tuesday Night: Clear, and cold with a low around 34. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Some showers overnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Thursday: Some scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Breezy.

Thursday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 53.

Friday: Showers likely, mainly before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65.
