A Williamsburg woman who’s been accused of skipping out on restaurant tabs across the neighborhood is now facing eviction for more than a year of unpaid rent.
Pei Chung, 34, has been arrested at least seven times for refusing to pay for high-end meals at more than a dozen restaurants in Williamsburg, police said.
Several managers told News 12 that she regularly ordered expensive dishes and then refused to pay the bill.
After News 12 first reported on those allegations, housing court records revealed that Chung also hasn’t paid rent since last year.
Documents show she owes more than $40,000 in back rent for her apartment in a luxury building on Kent Avenue, where she has lived since July 2021. Her monthly rent is listed as $3,350.
Records show Chung paid rent fairly consistently until early 2023, when her payments became late and then stopped altogether.
Her lease expired in August 2024. She has not paid rent since. The landlord has moved to evict her, and she has been ordered to leave the apartment by Dec. 1.
Several of her neighbors told News 12 that they’ve complained about her multiple times, saying for loud music, erratic behavior and late-night disturbances.
One neighbor said police have been called to the apartment building several times. “There are periods when they come once a week,” she said.
News 12 knocked on Chung’s door on Friday, but she didn’t answer.
The building’s management did not respond to requests for comment.
