Prosecutor: Man dies from injuries following Newark fire

A 60-year-old man has died following a fire in Newark on Tuesday morning, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials say the fire was reported at 58 Telford St. around 8:19 a.m. They say the fire was on the second floor of the four-family building.
The prosecutor says that first responders found Wilbur Pierre unresponsive in a second-floor hallway. He was taken to University Hospital but died from his injuries just after 9:30 a.m., officials say.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
