Firefighters continued to keep watch Monday morning after a second smaller explosion happened at the Kearny chlorine plant late Sunday afternoon.
After the first explosion Friday, the Pulaski Skyway shut down temporarily.
Kearny residents were advised to stay inside and keep their windows closed.
Fire and air quality issues were under control by Saturday, but then a smaller explosion happened Sunday evening.
Crew members from state and federal environmental agencies and ACV Enviro, an environmental services company, were on the scene.
Officials are conducting periodic air quality checks.
No warnings were issued after the second explosion, and no one was hurt in either incident.
There is no word yet on the cause of the explosions, but the plant appears to have resumed operation.
