A 62-year-old Seaside Heights man was struck and killed by a van early Friday morning while trying to cross Route 37 in Toms River.

Toms River police say that Bruce Nussenbaum was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a 2006 GMS van around 6:40 a.m. The driver, a 47-year-old Toms River man, stayed at the scene.

Route 37 was closed for a time following the crash.

Police are investigating the incident. No summonses have been issued at this time.
