Search for missing boogie boarder in Ocean City turns to recovery mission
The 19-year-old went into the water Monday and never resurfaced.

The extensive search for a 19-year-old boogie boarder who went missing Monday in Ocean City has transitioned to a recovery mission.
In a statement, Ocean City police said that as of 2:05 p.m. Thursday, the missing swimmer had not been located.
The teen and a friend went into the surf near 10th Street Beach just before 5 p.m. Monday.
"Initial reports stated that two people were in the water on boogie boards approximately 200 yards from shore. One person was successfully rescued by Ocean City Beach Patrol, while the second person remains missing," the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The rescued individual told first responders that the other swimmer lost his boogie board before being hit by a wave and failing to resurface.
Local rescue workers, state police, and Coast Guard crews used drones, boats, divers, and helicopters in an effort to locate the missing teen.
Ocean City police said they will work on the recovery mission with members of the Ocean City Fire Department and Beach Patrol, and additional first responders as needed.
