Authorities say it may be a couple days before a water main break in Scotch Plains is fixed.
The 48-inch main ruptured yesterday leaving much of the neighborhood flooded. Four surrounding towns were also left with low water pressure at times.
Crews will also have to fix a gaping hole in the road on Portland Avenue that was left behind by the break.
New Jersey American Water says it's going to look into what caused the pipe to break. Meanwhile, residents in Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Watchung, and Warren are being asked to conserve water.
