The game was to be played with no fans after being moved from Friday night because of a series of shootings in Long Branch over the last week that police say are related.

A high school football game between Long Branch and Neptune that scheduled for Saturday never happened.
The game was to be played with no fans after being moved from Friday night because of a series of shootings in Long Branch over the last week that police say are related.
Some Neptune parents wouldn't let their kids play in Saturday's game.
The athletic department said, "Based on these concerns, a number of students are not available to play and we will not be able to safely field a team. Please understand, these decisions are not made lightly and are always with our students' best interest in mind."
As of Saturday night, it was unclear if the game will be a forfeit.
