A same-sex couple has filed a complaint with the state after they were banned from having a civil union ceremony at an Ocean Grove pavilion owned by a Methodist group.
Janice Moore and Emily Sonnessa?s application to have the ceremony at the pavilion was rejected by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. Their complaint states that their civil rights were violated. The state says it is investigating.
News 12 New Jersey?s calls to the group haven?t been returned. The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association has also filed a federal lawsuit against the state, claiming its investigation violated its rights to free speech and religious freedom.
