(12/08/07) - As gasoline prices break the $3 mark across the nation, a gas station in Ridgewood is marking prices 50 cents higher than local competitors.
The average gas price in New Jersey is $2.89. The Ridgewood Luxoil filling station on the corner of Ridgewood Avenue and Paramus Road is charging customers $3.39.
"People ask me all the time what the deal is with the high prices," says Ed Mitchell, who works across the street from the station. "I just say 'don't go there'."
There is no law prohibiting gas stations from significantly raising prices. Experts advise drivers to shop around for the cheapest gas to save money throughout the year.
