A project to help clean up a lake in Netcong is upsetting residents who live nearby.
Residents who live along Lake Musconetcong on Allen Street claim a state cleanup project is flooding their homes. They say the state Department of Environmental Protection installed a box in the spring to filter debris and sand from rainwater running into the lake.
Residents claim their homes and basements have been getting flooded since that time.
A statement from the DEP reads, ?We are investigating if the swirl tank is contributing to the flooding problem. We don?t believe that it is, but we are working with Netcong to investigate further.?
The town checked its water pipes to make sure they had not collapsed. The mayor says the pipes are intact.
