Authorities have ruled out Ebola as the virus that hospitalized a man early Wednesday morning in Ocean County.
A state Department of Health spokeswoman told the Asbury Park Press that the Neptune resident did not contract the virus.
Police, emergency medical personnel and hazmat crews responded in the overnight hours to a condominium complex on Squankum Road and East Kennedy Boulevard in Lakewood for a person that was reportedly displaying Ebola-like symptoms.
The man is being treated for a "non-contagious, travel related illness," the spokeswoman told the newspaper.
Reports say the individual may have recently returned from Africa and had symptoms that included a high fever and vomiting.
