Memorial Day is about honoring the fallen and today, a son of Metuchen finally comes home. The remains of Army Air Force Staff Sgt. Michael Uhrin were handled with the proper respect ahead of internment at the Costello-Runyon funeral home in Scotch Plains.
He was killed in action in October 1943 over Germany.
His remains were declared gone in 1955.
But historians within the department of defense never stopped and he was accounted for about a year ago.
