The Howell community is feeling very unsettled as one home is now unlivable. A 2,200-square-foot home in Howell was severely damaged by Saturday night’s tornado. The house now has no roof and no windows, and there is debris all throughout the property. This home was the only one destroyed in the neighborhood.
“If you look up, you can actually see there's no roof on the second floor. The ceiling, any of the light fixtures, everything from there basically up is just gone. You can see some of the rafters in the back almost in their pool, leaning on the house just completely like evaporated,” said neighbor Mark Zamorski.
The family that lived in the home was new to the neighborhood, Zamorski said. The family had a toddler and Zamorski imagines it must have been scary for the family. He also mentioned that this cul-de-sac is a wind tunnel that's caused major storm damage in the past.
The National Weather Service confirmed on Tuesday that a seventh tornado touched down in New Jersey on Saturday. Major rain and a possible storm are expected on Thursday. This may cause further damage to the home as the ceiling is completely off. Fortunately, the other homes on the block are not in the same category of severe damage as this.
