As many New Jersey residents started getting ready for their holiday travel, the rainy weather impacted their commute.
The turnpike Tuesday evening was already experiencing some traffic heading south, with slippery road conditions.
“I’m surprised there is not much traffic, actually, but I would say it has been slightly slower because of the rain," said Angel, a South Jersey resident driving to New York City.
“We been driving a little bit slower," said Jolene, another resident heading to New York City. "I’ve been seeing some people without their headlights which is a little concerning”
According to AAA, more than 1.8 million people in New Jersey are expected to drive to their holiday destinations. Commuters should anticipate seeing more cars on the road and some delays. AAA recommends those hitting the road on Thursday to do so before 11 a.m. The worst time to travel on Thanksgiving is expected to be between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
