A 41-year-old teacher from Nutley has been arrested on child cruelty and neglect charges after an investigation revealed she allegedly used narcotics while supervising minors.

Jenna Junio was taken into custody in Hackensack following a week-long investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

The probe began on March 11, 2026, after the Division of Child Protection & Permanency flagged an alleged incident of child abuse.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, the investigation determined that Junio used narcotics while performing her professional duties as a teacher and supervising children under the age of 18. Officials have not yet released the name of the school or the specific type of narcotics involved in the incident.

Junio was formally charged on March 30 with fourth-degree child cruelty and neglect.

Following her arrest, Junio was remanded to the Bergen County Jail and made an initial appearance in Bergen County Superior Court. She has since been released pending further court action.
