A 26-year-old woman will spend the next 10 years in prison for killing her own mother.
According to Union County prosecutors, Malika Jones, of Rahway, stabbed her mother in 2020. Jones must serve at least 85% of her sentence before being eligible for parole.
Prosecutors say on Feb. 16, 2020, police found the victim, Inell Jones, 58, who was pronounced dead at the scene on the 100 block of East Albert Street. Jones was immediately taken into custody.
"While this sentencing does not bring Mrs. Inell Jones back, we hope it can bring some relief to all those in mourning," Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said.
