The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed a man was fatally shot in North Plainfield, just a few blocks away from a National Night Out event.
The shooting happened Tuesday around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Gavin and Steiner Place.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the shooting happened just a few blocks from where North Plainfield's National Night Out event was taking place on Somerset Street.
There is still no word yet on who was killed or if the suspect is in custody.
It is unknown what led up to the shooting.
