The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the son of a woman discovered dead in her Maplewood home has been arrested and charged with her murder.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the son of a woman discovered dead in her Maplewood home has been arrested and charged with her murder.
According to authorities, Benjamin Avrut, 35, of Maplewood, has been arrested and charged.
Authorities say on Jan 4. around 12:56 p.m., Gwen Avrut, 70, was discovered in her South Orange Avenue home in Maplewood unresponsive suffering from serious injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:39 p.m.
