Prosecutor: Officers shoot armed woman in Byram Township

The Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office has released new information about a police-involved shooting in Byram Township on Monday.
Officials say that Byram officers were called to the intersection of Camp Wheeler and Camp Allamuchy roads around 3:30 p.m. for reports of a woman with a gun.

Officials say that officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the woman got out of her car, prompting police officers to shoot her. They say the woman also fired her gun.
The woman – whose name was not released – was taken to Hackettstown Medical Center and is in stable condition.
The officers involved were taken to Newton Medical Center to be checked out.
It was unclear what charges, if any, the woman could be facing.
