Investigators say a New Jersey man who killed his fiancee, her brother and himself last weekend told a family member he wanted to kill police officers.
Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano says 48-year-old John Reno opened fire on two police officers and narrowly missed hitting one in the head.
Reno killed fiance Heidi Errickson and her brother Frederick Errickson. Soriano says he then called a family member sand said he was "going to kill a bunch of pigs."
Authorities say none of the responding officers were hit or injured when Reno fired 20 rounds at them.
Soriano says Reno was armed with an assault weapon that is illegal in New Jersey and did not have a state firearms identification card.
