Prosecutor: Man charged in hit-and-run death of well-known dog walker

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says that Julian Palacios, 30, was driving a Honda Civic and crashed into 23-year-old Joshua Huayamave while he was riding a motorcycle.

A Jersey City man is facing charges in the hit-and-run death of a well-known dog walker from North Bergen.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says that Julian Palacios, 30, was driving a Honda Civic and crashed into 23-year-old Joshua Huayamave while he was riding a motorcycle. The crash happened on May 5.
Authorities say that Palacios did not stop after the crash. Huayamave was taken to Palisades Medical Center and died from his injuries.
Huayamave was known to the community as a dog walker and pet caretaker. A memorial has been set up where he was killed. Flowers and candles were placed at the site.
Palacios was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a collision that resulted in death. He is in custody at a local medical facility. Authorities say that he will be transferred to the Hudson County Correctional Facility once he is medically cleared.
