A Somerville man was charged in the deadly stabbing of a woman outside her home last week – a woman he apparently knew, according to officials.
David Shroitman, 27, is accused of killing Mary Rose Fealey, also 27, outside her North Bridge townhouse complex on Jan 30.
Prosecutors say a search warrant was conducted Sunday at Shroitman’s home. He is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and hindering apprehension. He is being held at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Officials say that Shroitman and Fealey knew each other but did not elaborate on their relationship.
Fealey was very involved in community work. She established her own nonprofit called 4TheYoungerMe (4TYM). According to her obituary, she also was involved with the non-profits Not An Easy Fix and Empower Somerset.
She was raised in Somerville and studied at Rutgers University’s School of Business.
Those who wish to help Fealey continue to leave an impact on the sort of nonprofit work that inspired her, can visit

A
GoFundMe page set up for Fealey's family has raised more than $13,000.
