Prosecutor: 2 people injured after shooting at Pleasantville HS football game
At least two people were injured after gunshots were fired at a high school football game, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
The gunshots were heard around 8:30 p.m. at Pleasantville High School during the Pleasantville/Camden game.
The prosecutor did not state if the people were shot or injured in some other manner.
It appears as if the gunfire came from the bleachers, according to several journalists who were covering the game. Videos and photos posted on social media following the shooting showed spectators running from the stands in a panic.
New Jersey Advanced Media reporter Kevin Minnick posted on Twitter that the referees were laying on the ground after hearing the gunshots. Minnick reports that he heard at least six gunshots.
Another video posted on Twitter shows the players running from the field.
The prosecutor did not release any details about the victims. But Jersey Sports Zone reporter Mike Frankel reports that it appears as if one of the victims was a child or young teen.
The game was suspended following the incident.
