Some New Jersey residents spent most of Monday cleaning up the damage from Sunday's powerful wind storms.
The windy weather that roared through the state Sunday night caused power outages, uprooted trees and caused some building damage.
A tree crashed onto the front of a home on Hobart Road in Paramus, damaging part of the roof and gutter. Just down the street, a large pine tree was snapped in half.
A portion of a warehouse on West Side Avenue in North Bergen collapsed because of the wind.
Areas of Monmouth and Ocean were also badly impacted by the storm.
Diana Sickinger says that she was home with her girls in the Mayetta section of Stafford Township when she heard loud noises.
“It was like a freight train out of nowhere. It sounded like a train coming through the house. The house started to rattle everything. It just started to rattle,” she says.
Ken Northrup's home in the Shark River Hills section of Neptune Township was damaged.
“The next thing I know was a huge thump and the whole house shook. I ran upstairs, huge hole in my roof and a tree on my neighbor's property came down and destroyed half of the roof,” he says.
Despite the damage, no injuries were reported in Monmouth or Ocean counties.
