Two police officers in Passaic County rescued a woman from a burning home on Monday morning, according to officials.

The fire started around 10 a.m. at a home on Ringwood Avenue in Pompton Lakes. Officials say two officers ran into the house and carried a woman outside to safety.

The woman was injured but is expected to be OK.

Officials say that one of the officers was treated for smoke inhalation.

“When they entered, they couldn't see. It was a heavy smoke condition…They put their lives at risk to rescue this lady,” said acting Pompton Lakes Police Chief Anthony Rodrigeuz.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
