A 41-year-old woman's body was found on the roof of her apartment building.
Police tell News 12 she was found around 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 810 River Ave.
Neighbors say the building has security issues and that nonresidents roam the building frequently, often using drugs and making noise.
Family members of the victim have identified her as Jane Hunter, 41.
News 12's Lindsay Tanney spoke with the woman's mother. She says if someone harmed her daughter, she wants justice. If it was an accident, she wants her daughter to be at peace. She also notes having security in the building could have prevented this tragedy.
The family of the victim provided the following message about Hunter:
"When someone passes, especially after struggling with addiction and mental illness, people often focus on the details of their life, or their death... She was a talented poet who was impossibly kind... But for the first time in decades, she may finally be at peace. Her name was Jane Hunter, and she was loved."
