A woman was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train in Dunellen Sunday afternoon.
A spokesperson for NJ Transit says that the woman was on the tracks when she was struck around 3:45 p.m. The train left Raritan and was scheduled to arrive in Cranford.
About 50 people were on the train at the time. They were not injured. Service on the Raritan Valley Line was suspended for a time following the collision.
It was unclear why the woman, who was not identified, was on the tracks. NJ Transit police are investigating.
