Trenton police say the driver of a pickup truck that collided with a fire truck and killed a 3-year-old Friday night has been charged with driving with a suspended license and causing injury.
Witnesses say William Park?s pickup truck collided with a fire truck at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Route 129. The pickup truck then careened onto the center median, striking the child.
According to investigators, the fire truck was on its way to a vehicle crash and had its lights and sirens on. Police say the fire truck was making a U-turn to go north on Route 129 when it was hit by the pickup truck.
Witnesses say the pickup truck hit a light post, knocking it down onto pedestrians before it slid into the median, striking and killing the 3-year-old girl. A 3-year-old boy was also hit and suffered fractured legs. None of the pedestrians hit by the pole suffered life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the fire truck suffered a sprained wrist. Park sustained a knee injury.
