Police: Suspect arrested for hit-and-run in Absecon

A man was arrested Saturday for a hit-and-run that killed a dog and left a person seriously injured in Absecon, according to police.
Authorities say Syed Hoque and his dog were struck as they were crossing the intersection of Highland Boulevard and Marlborough Avenue around 12 a.m.
Police officers caught up to Byron Jones, of Mays Landing, and arrested him a short time later.
Officials say Hoque remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
