Police: School bus with dozens of kids collides with minivan while making illegal crossing

Police in Lakewood say 36 kids were on a school bus when it crashed into a minivan after the driver of the bus illegally tried to cross an intersection.

Police in Lakewood say 36 kids were on a school bus when it crashed into a minivan after the driver of the bus illegally tried to cross an intersection.

The crash happened Monday just before 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Bradshaw Road.


According to police, the bus driver, Raymond Schlombert, 63, of Lakewood, attempted to cross Central Avenue when his bus collided with the 2001 Toyota Sienna.
Police say no one was injured on the bus.
The driver of the minivan, Gitty Olshin, 39, of Lakewood, was taken to the hospital after complaining of pain.
Police say the bus driver will face summonses.
The bus is owned by Klarr Transportation Service.
