Authorities in Gloucester County say that they have captured a man suspected of dumping soiled diapers along several roadways over the past year.
Franklin Township police say that Officer Garrett Moretti spotted a box truck drop a load of soiled diapers in the area of Routes 47 and 40 while he was on patrol around 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21.
The officer pulled over the truck and arrested 68-year-old Newfield resident William Friedman.
Friedman allegedly told police the diapers came from his grandson, adding that leaving them around town without getting caught "almost became a game."
But Franklin police say that the game is not a joking manner. They say that on June 27, a motorcyclist crashed after running over a bag of soiled diapers Friedman had allegedly dropped. The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and his bike was totaled.
Friedman has been charged with interference with transportation. He faces up to $1,000 in fines.
