Police in Union Township are searching for a driver responsible for seriously injuring a man in a hit-and-run incident.
Police say a man from Irvington was walking across Stuyvesant Avenue and Pleasant Parkway when he was hit by a pickup truck whose driver kept going.
News 12 obtained a security video that shows the incident that happened last Thursday night. It shows a person in a grey hoodie with a backpack looking one way before crossing, then it shows the truck continuing toward Oakland Avenue while the pedestrian is left in the street.
Witness Robert Lee says he was parked across the street when he heard the loud noise and noticed something in the road. Lee told News 12 that he called the police when he noticed it was a person.
“It's very horrifying and it’s a shame that people are speeding the way they are,” says Lee.
Police say the 34-year-old from Irvington is in critical condition at University Hospital.
Police are searching for the driver of that dark-colored Ford F-150 who kept going toward Oakland Avenue on Thursday around 8:43 p.m. Police say the truck had no bed cover, a chrome front bumper and New Jersey license plates.
They say the truck would have damage to the front bumper and hood area due to the impact.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is urged to contact Traffic Investigator Marco Novoa-Rios by emailing mnovoarios@uniontownship.com or calling dispatch at 908-851-5000.
