A Lynbrook man is facing multiple charges, accused of fleeing a traffic stop in Elmont and resisting arrest.
During a struggle with police officers, authorities said Antonio Lam’s gun went off.
Police said a bullet fragment went into a nearby home where people were sleeping and an officer was injured - possibly the result of a bullet fragment.
“These cops could’ve been killed," said Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
Bail for Lam was set at $250,000.
