A brief area of fair weather is moving in for tonight. Skies will clear and temperatures will drop. Lows will be hovering just above the freezing mark. While chilly, it’s still slightly above average.
Wednesday starts off sunny. However, clouds will slowly collect through the day and temperatures are stuck, for the most part in the mid- to upper-40s. On-and-off showers are expected sometime after 3 p.m. Showers will be around for the evening drive home from work and school, so plan accordingly. The wet weather will be with us through most of Wednesday night and overnight, eventually moving east of the New Jersey beaches by daybreak.
Thursday is a breezy, but sunny day with temperatures more in line for that of December, in the low-40s.

This does not look like a very impactful precipitation maker. It will however bring a reinforced shot of very cold air just in time for the weekend.
The Winter Solstice is Saturday. Officially at 4:41 p.m. and right on cue, Mother Nature drops in and drops the temps dramatically. Expect single-digit to possibly below-zero windchills Sunday night/Monday morning.
