A Locust Valley woman accused of assaulting a police officer and a nurse Monday is facing charges, according to authorities.
Officers responded to a residence in Locust Valley after it was reported that Tiara Gooden, 34, was arguing with a neighbor about their mail.
Police say Gooden grabbed her neighbor’s screen door during the dispute, slammed it and broke the lock.
She was taken into police custody and transported to a hospital after she requested medical attention.
Authorities say she became combative and started screaming while a nurse was assisting her.
She then scratched the nurse’s hand and bit the hand of a nearby officer, according to police.
Authorities say the nurse and the officer sustained pain and swelling.
The charges against Gooden include two counts of assault and criminal mischief.
She is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at the First District Court in Hempstead.
