Linden police have identified the 27-year-old man accused of crashing into several police cruisers and assaulting several officers with Mace Tuesday.
Police have charged James Wnek with seven counts of aggravated assault, as well as eluding police, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
Wnek, who is from Linden but was recently living in Arizona, allegedly drove into the Linden Police Department's garage and slammed into a police SUV. He then led police on a chase, crashing into several other police cruisers in the process.
Police say that after Wnek was taken into custody, he sprayed several officers with Mace that he apparently snuck into the police station.
Three officers suffered minor injuries in the ordeal. Wnek was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but is now in the Union County Jail.
