A Fair Lawn synagogue was evacuated Thursday night following reports of a bomb threat.
Fair Lawn police say that the dispatch center took an anonymous phone call from a person who stated that they had two pipe bombs inside a black backpack at Congregation Ahavat Achim on Saddle River Road.
The immediate area was evacuated while the Bergen County bomb squad searched the building. Police say the squad found no evidence of a bomb or materials that could make a bomb.
The call comes ahead of the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah.
Anyone who might have information about the threat is urged to contact the police.
