Police say the 4-month-old baby girl was found in a stroller in Pelham Gardens at the intersection of Mace Avenue and Eastchester Road just before 6 a.m.
The baby was clothed and appeared to be OK, police say.
Officials say the baby was left when a woman walked away from her without saying a word. People who found the baby remained at the scene.
Police conducted a canvas of the area, which led to a woman being apprehended about a 10-minute walk from the scene.

The baby was taken to Jacobi Hospital to be checked out.
