Police: 3-year-old boy critical after being struck by a vehicle in Evesham

The 81-year-old driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators, police say.

A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition at a South Jersey hospital after being hit by a car in Evesham Township Wednesday, police said.
According to a statement, officers from the Evesham police Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at 12:30 p.m. When they arrived, police found that a 3-year-old boy from Lindenwold has been struck by a vehicle on the southbound side of Route 73 near Holtec Drive. "Members of the Evesham Police and Fire Departments immediately initiated life-saving efforts on the child," police said.
The boy was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. He remains in critical condition, according to police.
Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old male from Cherry Hill, remained at the scene and is said to be cooperating with police. The incident is under investigation by the Evesham Police Department’s Traffic Unit, Investigative Bureau and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. So far, no charges or summonses have been issued.
