Police: 11-year-old boy loses nose in attack with dog at Jersey Shore

An 11-year-old boy from Bridgewater is recovering after a dog attacked him in Wildwood, suffering severe injuries including losing his nose.

An 11-year-old boy from Bridgewater is recovering after a dog attacked him in Wildwood, suffering severe injuries including losing his nose.
The attack happened back on Aug. 16 on a family vacation.
According to the GoFundMe page, the family came across the dog and its owner as they walked down the beach.
Police say the child approached the dog after asking for permission to pet the animal. They say the dog then leapt forward and bit him on the face.
The page says, “The dog had bitten him so hard, his nose was gone."
The owner of the dog, later identified as John Kalin, of Wildwood, originally ran from the scene, but later turned himself in.
He was charged with violation of law intended to protect public health and safety, among other charges.
The boy was flown by helicopter to the hospital.
According to the GoFundMe page, he will many surgeries and will undergo therapy because of the trauma from the incident.
