A man from Piscataway is headed to Rio after clinching a spot on the United States Olympic Judo Team.
Colton Brown, 24, won three collegiate judo titles at San Jose State University and also helped train the Olympic team in 2012.
"I was like, I want to be here in four years and I have to do whatever it takes to get here in four years," he says.
A performance at the Pan Am Games in April helped Brown clinch his spot on the Olympic team, and he did so while laboring through a herniated disc.
"A lot of people were like, 'You should be happy just to qualify.' But I want more than that," he says.
Brown says his goal is to win a gold medal, but any would fulfill his Olympic dream.
