There is a battle brewing over geese in Peapack-Gladstone.

The borough has approved a controversial plan to euthanize the birds by gathering them up and gassing them.

Officials are concerned about fecal droppings on walkways, benches and the pond at Liberty Park.

“The geese are a challenge in our town and we tried a lot of deterrence over the years ... we really had little to no luck,” said Council Member Jamie Murphy.

But some residents are not on board with the idea and have started a petition to stop the gassing.
